Cr 480 fix up/ Step #3

Today I need to get the piston down to the bottom of the cylinder to clean the cylinder wall and get the piston moving freely-

I was finally able to get the piston to the bottom of the cylinder. Once I did that I took some steel wool and went around the cylinder (You can not brush the steel wool up and down the cylinder or it will make scratches that will not be fixed by the piston moving up and down).

I then tried to kick start the bike, after a few hard kicks the piston started moving up. I hammered the piston back down and put some more WD40 on the cylinder wall to get some lubrication. When i got the piston back down I tried kicking starting the bike again and it finally reached the top of the cylinder. I used some more WD40 just to make sure the piston was completely lubricated. After one kick I had no problem with the piston sticking to the wall.

I checked to make sure there was no resistance with the piston, and then i got the head and started to bolt it to the cylinder. Once the head was bolted down I put the spark plug on and checked the compression. I could hear some air moving between the piston and the cylinder. That means their is a good chance i will have to change the piston rings.

Cr 480 fix up/ Step #2

Now i need to clean the carburetor and try to get everything working properly-

I took the carburetor off and put some PB blaster and WD40 try to loosen everything. I decided I would check with a mechanic before messing with it, so i called up a mechanic and asked him what to do with the carburetor. He offered to fix it up for me and said that he has a few carburetors just like the one I have laying around somewhere. A subjection to anyone with a seized up carburetor, it would be best to get a mechanic to fix it up the carburetor for you so you do not end up breaking anything.

Cr 480 fix up/ Step #1

First I need to get the engine unseized-

I first took of the spark plug out and added a mixture of (1/3 wd40/ 1/3 gun cleaner/ 1/3 transmission fluid) and let it sit in the cylinder for 2 weeks.

After 2 weeks i tried pull starting it with my quad. Their was no luck with moving the piston, so then i decided to take off the head and try moving it with a block of wood and a hammer. The piston was all the way at the top of the cylinder, so i hammered the cylinder down a 1/2 an inch just enough to get it moving. Then I let PB blaster sit in the cylinder for 2 days to loosen it up, i was able to move it down 1 more inch. Now i will let it sit for another 2 days and try moving it down one more inch. P.S you can not hit the piston down all at once, if you do you have a good chance of breaking the crank bearing.
